Oxford Africa Conference 2015 Preview
The University of Oxford has and probably always will be associated with the kind of informed, passionate and rigorous discussion needed to birth innovation and drive meaningful change globally.
This weekend, Oxford take another step towards cementing their position as international influencers, as members of their world-renowned SAID business school and those with a keen interest in all things Africa, gather to discuss “A continent on the move; its people, politics and business across borders.”
The event will commence with an address from His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama – President of the Republic of Ghana. With Ghanaian energy present in the news recently, I must say that the timing of his presence is a major coup for Oxford – hats off to their team for making this happen.
Star names do not stop there either!
Panellists will range from business tycoons and influencers like Tony Elumelu (Chairman, Heirs Holdings and Tony Elumelu Foundation) and Acha Leke (Senior Partner at McKinsey and Founder of ALN) to creative heavyweights Taiye Selasi (New York Times best seller and film-maker) and Keorapetse Kogsitsile (South Africa’s National Poet Laureate). Expect to engage with topics such as racial divide, the importance of rule and law as well as a look at ‘Africa across borders’ meansm through the mediums of literature and business. Many more distinguished speakers from the business, creative, academic and political world will also be in attendance. With that much brain power in one place, the event will no doubt explode into a rich, relevant and diverse range of discussions, engaging all attendees. I imagining the opportunity for networking will not be too shabby either.
For anyone yet to purchase a ticket, they will only be on sale for a few more days. In other words,
Also, watch out for the exciting debutante, the Innovation Fair. It is to provide an opportunity for innovators to showcase their ideas, receive skills training, meet other entrepreneurs and network with a large audience interested in Africa.
As we always strive to do, Movemeback’s media team will be providing fly-on-the-wall style coverage for both days. We will be sporting our Movemeback badges, so if you see us around, be sure to say hi, e ku abọ, kushɛ or etise.
Good luck to the organisers of the event
To the Movemeback community, we hope to see you there!
